The Garage, 2025
Client Background
The Garage is an event concept developed under Ulter, a raw, underground-inspired space created to explore pure sound culture. Built inside a recreated garage environment, the concept aimed to highlight the engineering of sound itself: its movement, its precision, and its emotional impact on the listener.
It was designed as a one-night transformation of space, culture, and audio experience.
The Challenge
How do you turn an industrial, minimal, garage-inspired setting into a fully engineered sonic experience, one that feels intentional, immersive, and elevated rather than rough or unfinished?
The challenge was to build a space where sound becomes the protagonist, not just the music.
Our Approach
Deep dive into sound behavior in enclosed, industrial structures
Studying acoustic reflections, reverb behavior, and spatial resonance
Crafting a narrative where the garage becomes a “sound lab”, a place of experimentation
Working with Ulter to define the mood: underground, gritty, yet extremely controlled
Designing visual cues that enhance not distract from the auditory experienceDesign Direction
Aspierra approached The Garage as both an art installation and an audio experiment.
Design Direction
The creative direction leaned into industrial minimalism mixed with cinematic noir.
Key pillars included:
Concrete, steel, and matte black surfaces to support clean acoustics
Directional lighting that follows the flow of sound
Shadowed corners to maintain the underground essence
Clean lines & functional aesthetic inspired by mechanical workshops
Sound-first design decisions: spacing, speaker angles, listener flow
The atmosphere was designed to feel intimate, raw, and sonically alive.
Execution & Deliverables
Concept Development
Storyboard for The Garage as a sonic experience
Mood and atmosphere mapping
Underground-meets-precision creative direction
Sound Engineering
Full acoustic planning for the space
Analysis of reflections, frequencies, and energy points
Speaker placement strategy for even, immersive coverage
Bass management and clarity enhancement
Testing phases for balance, spatial depth, and movement of sound
Spatial & Visual Direction
Industrial interior styling with minimal interventions
Lighting cues synced with the DJ’s flow
Movement mapping for crowd flow and acoustics
Subtle visual textures enhancing the “garage” authenticity
Experience Design
Narrative messaging and concept storytelling
Visual content for announcement and documentation
Photography/video direction to highlight the space’s rawness
Integration with Ulter’s cultural identity
Final Outcome
The Garage became one of Ulter’s most memorable experimental concepts, a space where sound engineering and underground culture fused.
Guests experienced a night where:
The space shaped the sound
The sound shaped the mood
And minimal visuals amplified the purity of the audio
